It was later known that Richa, wife of Sanjay Dutt was batting cancer and Sanjay then wanted to marry Madhuri. 

Madhuri and Sanjay even used to visit eachother during the shooting sets and spend long time together. After the affair with Sanjay Dutt ended Madhuri Dixit was married to Denvour based docter Dr. Shriram Madhav Nene.
