ICC has officially confirmed that Nepal is in division 3
yesterday. Now Nepal have to compete in division 3 again. ICC has revealed the
teams that will be participating in Division 3 this year. Nepal along with
Uganda, USA, Bermuda and top two teams from Division 4 will be competing in
Division 3 this year and Canada, Kenya , Namibia, Netherlands and top two teams
from Division 3 will be playing Division 2 tournament. ICC has created a new
cycle for WCL Division 2, which provides a clear chance for Nepal for improve
and forget the forgettable loss in World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand earlier
this year. The top two teams from Division 2 will qualify for Intercontinental
Cup this time.
The working period of head coach of Nepali Cricket Team Pubudu
Dassanayake is running in uncertainities now. He has now just 2 months left
after CAN previously ended a 1 year deal and re-signed him for just three
months before ACC Premier League. However Dasanayake has expressed that Nepal
should stop all the controversies in the CAN and start focusing on the
Intercontinental Cup Qualification. Pubudu Dasanayake is unable to train
players since TU ground is close due to the strike of workers against CAN. Pubudu Claims Nepal is the best team for
Division 3 and is able to defeat every teams of Division 3. The home crowed
will also help Nepal, since ICC has given chance to Nepal to organize Division
3. Pubudu said that Nepal will tharsh every teams and should now focus directly
on the I-Cup Qualification.
Pubudu said, “I am certain that Nepal is the best team in
Division-3 and the tournament is held in Nepal I am pretty sure Nepal will
thrash all the teams in that division.But we should look further and plan for
I-Cup qualification instead and start quality grooming sessions for players
right away”,
However Pubudu claimed that they were surprised with the
level of cricket in Division 1 and Division 2. The ODI level of Division 1 and
Division 2 are of high level and we should start the plans to compete there
right away from here. Pubudu also
expressed that the current situation in
CAN has made him difficult to prepare
any plans for cricket team.
