Winning the toss Kolkata Knight Riders invited Kings XI Punjab to bat. Punjab started with a very low note. Shewag along with Vohra came as the opening pair. Shewag was out for just 7 runs as the first wicket. Centurian in the previous game, Virendra Shewag was cought out after playing a silly shot. Later Australina George Baily came at number, exchanging the spot with Saha. George Baily also couldnt sustain longer. He was bowled by Sunil Narine. Once Punjab were 30/2 in 5.1 overs. Then the life holding innings from Vohra and Saha came. They made a partnerships of  129 runs. M Vohra with personal score of 67 off 52 ball departed in 17.1 overs. Then after a brillient inning by Wriddhiman Saha lifted innings of Punjab to 199. Saha made total 115 runs off 55 balls. He scored 10 fours and 8 sixes during his innings.
Piyush Chawala took 2 wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders.
In reply Kolkata Knight Riders started with a shocking note as well. The magical consistent batsman Robin Uthappa was out for just 5 runs in the very first over. Kolkata then lost Gambhir after 23 personal runs off 17 balls. Again for Kolkatta like, Saha for Punjab , Manish Pandey played a life holding innings. Manish lifted the innings after Uthappa's departure. Manish Pandey scored personal 94 runs off 50 balls. He scored 7 fours and 6 sixes. After departure of Gautam Gambhir Yusuf Pathan somehow acclerated the innings of Kolkata with his 36 runs of 22 balls with 4 huge sixes. The match then went to last over after departure of Manish, Shakib, and Yusuf. There was a fresh pair of Narine and Chawla. With 11 runs needed in last 7 balls, Chawla smashed six in ball of Johnson. Then there were 5 runs left in the last over. Narine was in strike, fist ball of last over went dot, then after single run, and then Chawla smashed four of the third ball and the game finished.
Manish Pandey was awarded the Man Of The Man Award.
